The past few years have been kinda weird because I always end up in a new place shortly before and don't know many people. This year was kinda the same because I haven't been here in Australia for very long, but it was a good one!.
First of all, it was pretty much my birthday for 2 days. I celebrated it here in Australia on Friday the 30th because that's when it is. But back home in the States the 30th was mostly the day after. So I work up on Saturday to many birthday messages and it was awesome! I got wishes coming from 6 different continents, which was awesome. I love knowing people from so many different places in the world - makes life much more cultured! And it's also ironic that on my birthday I was doing some research for graduate occupational therapy schools and just reading up on some of the schools. There was one in particular that right off wasn't too impressive because it was full of grammatical errors and didn't sound very professionally done (I don't normally care all that much about grammar and such, but this is kind of important stuff where you're trying to impress future applicants to want to come to your school). So as I was reading along I had to stop dead and reread something that now is just simply hilarious:
"The program has enrolled students from all four continents, including locations such as..."
Well, the idea of going to school in Washington DC may have sounded slightly awesome, but no thanks. Last I checked there were 7 continents, unless they decide to cross Antarctica off of the list like they did to Pluto and the planets. But even then...apparently there are only 4. Gave me a good laugh hahaha.
I watched Emily for the day like normal. I ate Peanut Butter M&M's that I had from home, we watched The Lion King together (as much as a baby watches television haha) and I did her hair.
In the evening Aaron and Sally and Emily and I went to Sunnybank which is full of Asian restaurants, seriously like 100 restaurants in a 3 block radius or something outrageous.
We went to a Chinese restaurant called Landmark. You know it's good Asian food when the only people eating in there besides you are Asians. It was probably my first experience eating legitimate Chinese food (I realize Panda Express does not count even though it's delicious as well) and I ate duck for the first time! Delicious! We also had steamed rice, vegetables, and this other thing that is duck and vegetables ground up that you eat in lettuce leaf. Oh my YUM!
We topped that off with some Hungry Jack's ice cream sundaes and called it a night.
Saturday we were going to go to the Gold Coast. But disgustingly enough after an entire week of it being sunny and very warm outside it decided to rain and not be a good day to go to the beach. I was quite sad, but instead we had a movie morning and watched The Lego Movie which was "AWESOME!"
I was getting stir crazy being inside so later that afternoon I went to the shopping center close and I went to see a movie. And since Mickey D's was right there I ate some lunch too :)
I saw Maleficent and it was not as creepy as I thought it was going to be. I actually kinda liked it.
Today (Sunday) before church we went to Daisy Hill which is just a small reserve and I saw my first wallabies and I am a happy camper. Happy birthday to me!!!
